Happy Birthday, Coop!

Dan and Gina's son, Cooper, celebrated his 1st birthday today. It was so much fun!

The Adorable Birthday Boy
Look at this awesome pool Cooper got for his birthday!
Kyri thought it was pretty cool at first...
until she got splashed...
"Come on, who splashed me??"
Then she decided it was more fun to watch the big kids from outside of the pool.

Coop and Kyri fixin this car - good teamwork!
Coop got this neat picnic table, and Kyri thought she owned it!

Somebody liked the cake!!!!
Mmmmmm, blue frosting!!!
Enough with the pictures already. Just let me eat my cake!
Birthday parties are awesome!!!
Yay! I'm 1!
Thanks for letting us be a part of your party, Coop. We love you!

The Zoo

Kyle got me a membership to the zoo for my birthday, so we've gone twice now. The first time Kyle, Kyri, and I went. Then a week later Donna, Charlie, Kyri, and I went. It was so cute to see the girls this year. Last year they just people watched, but this year they actually paid attention to the animals and were so excited to see them up close and personal! They waved to them and made all the animal sounds they knew. Some highlights were the seals, the elephants, the zebras, the giraffes, and of course the favorites - monkeys!

Garden Fairies

For those of you who did not get the emails from Grandma Nancy, I thought I'd post some of these sweet photos from the last photo shoot of the cousins... Kyri and Aubry.

The Lake

We have been able to get up to the lake a few times in the past month or so. It's funny to see the differences in Kyri this year. Last year she had no fear and would crawl right into the water. We called her the sand monster because she would have it all over her and didn't care. This year Kyri is a little more timid with the water. She likes to walk in it when there are no waves, but she is not too fond of sitting in it or floating in the rafts. Her preference is to be on the beach and have someone bring buckets of water to her while she digs in the sand.

18 mos.

Kyri had her 18 month check up yesterday, and the doctor said she is meeting all of her milestones and is healthy. Finally she gained some weight... 21 lbs. The last few checkups she was stuck at 19 lbs. So we were excited to hear about the gain (even if she was wearing all of her clothes, shoes, and holding a book this time). Her height is 31.75 inches.

I can't believe how grown up my little girl is these days. She thinks she's 18 years old instead of 18 mos. and she likes to be in charge! Everyday she cracks us up with a new saying or action. Her personality is definitely coming out, and she is getting more and more like her dad with organization (a.k.a. anal). If something is out of place, she has to fix it. Her favorite thing to do is clean up toys and put them where they go. I guess this is a good thing!

Now that I'm off for the summer I am able to take Kyri to some park district classes. We had our first one today - Tot Rock. She kept clapping to the music the whole time and was very helpful whenever it was time to put something away. We also went to the library this evening for story time for the first time. She was able to pay attention to both stories, but she kept wanting to go up and point to the pictures while the lady was reading. Normally Kyri is really shy around new people, but at both events today she was participating and outgoing. I think having other kids around makes her feel more comfortable. It made me happy to see her being herself in public rather than going into her shell.

I didn't get any pictures, but I have a quick video of the end of the Tot Rock class...

We decided to join in on the fun!

After years of blog stalking, I've decided to finally create my own! I'm not sure if I'm organized enough to keep it updated, but I'll try.

I have been off of school for the summer for about 2 weeks, and I am LOVING being home with Kyri all day. Our days usually start out slowly...watching Mickey Mouse in the morning, and then we like to walk to the park or play in the backyard. It's been so nice not having to get up early. Kyri's been sleeping until 7:30 or 8 everyday!
